Zeavola Tales June 2010 : The Great Monsoon Season Myth is all Wet

Zeavola Tales June 2010 : The Great Monsoon Season Myth is all Wet

Many myths have evolved about the monsoon season and we thought we should take a closer look at some of the more persistent ones and shed a little sunlight on them.

The monsoon season is:

  1. A terrible time to be on an island since it rains day in and day out
  2. Totally rainy and windy, and terribly boring
  3. Full of storms so that there is no way that anybody can swim
  4. Too windy to go diving
  5. Too rainy to enjoy yourself

Now, let's take a look at the truth. Perhaps because of the myths, there are usually fewer guests at the resort during this time. As a result, the already relaxed pace of life in our little paradise is even more laid back and tranquil. This means that there is more space to sprawl out on the beach, pick your perfect sunbathing location or play beach games.

The sun usually shines from morning to mid-afternoon, allowing you plenty of wonderful beach or boating time. Then, as the sun starts to sink, the rain clouds begin brewing and while the refreshing late afternoon downpour is usually over before the sun sets, the spectacular storm clouds linger to create a photographer's dream. During these special moments, you can watch dramatic cloud formations developing into breathtaking sunsets and creating extraordinary photographic images as the dark, shifting clouds provide a stark contrast for the bright oranges and pinks of the setting sun.

Now, about that wind myth... Zeavola faces the north-east and is therefore looking away from the windy south-west monsoon side. The lush hills behind the resort provide extra protection, and although there are days when the open seas can be very rough, on those same days the sea off Zeavola's beach is as calm as a soothing bath. Because of the natural shelter that we enjoy, parents can relax and enjoy the treasures in their beach bags while their children swim and play safely in a placid sea.

Sure there might be days when it seems that the rain gets the better of you, but on days such as these, why not slip into the Zeavola Spa for some pampering, learn to cook Thai food, curl up with your favorite book or even tune into one of the extra cable channels we now provide.

So, as you can see, the myths are all wet and even in the monsoon season,  Zeavola is a great place to be!
